Navigating the often complex road to recovery that takes in medication choices along the way is not a simple task. There is much to consider, not least overall efficacy and the potential for side-effects.
The Health and Social Care Board in Northern Ireland has recently launched a very useful website – ‘Choice and medication: information for people who use services, carers and professionals.’
The HSCNI site contains easily accessible information on mental health conditions (including bipolar disorder), treatments and medication options. There are also a selection of downloadable leaflets, catering to a range of audiences and circumstances. For example, there is a very useful guide on how to get the best from your GP.
Although the website is produced for a Northern Ireland audience, it has a wider application across the UK and further afield.
